Supporting the growth of a team in such an iconic and unifying sport was all it took to convince Beau Plan to sponsor the region’s women’s football team.
Pointe aux Piments Fire City is a name to remember. It could be the team that takes home the 2024‑25 National Women’s Division One title. As we write this, the team has just won its first match of the tournament, which brings together seven teams, defeating La Cure Sylvester. They are now gearing up for their second match, which will take place on 18 May at 1:30 pm at the Sir Gaëtan Duval Stadium in Rose Hill, where they will face the L’Escalier Omni Sports team. We will be there to cheer them on.
United by a Passion for Football
The Pointe aux Piments Fire City team is made up of 25 young women aged 16 and over. While many are from Pointe aux Piments itself, others come from Goodlands, Grand Gaube, Cap Malheureux, Pamplemousses and Sainte‑Croix. All share the same deep passion for the beautiful game.
Whether it is after school for some or after a full day’s work for others, they meet regularly to train and improve their skills. Young talents of tomorrow also join in during training sessions. While the National Women’s Division One created by the Mauritius Football Association (MFA) is open only to players aged 16 and over, younger girls eagerly join the training camp to challenge their older teammates and learn from them.
Beau Plan and Terra Foundation: Proud Sponsors of the Women’s Team
The IOFC, a football school open to all, is the strategic backbone that makes this initiative possible. Coaching the Pointe aux Piments Fire City team through its volunteer programme, IOFC handles pitch rentals, manages two weekly training sessions, provides equipment, and organises transport for both training and matches.
To further support the team, Beau Plan and the Terra Foundation were pleased to meet its needs, whether financial, such as purchasing 25 full kits (jersey, shorts, socks and football boots), or practical, by allocating a weekly time slot for the team to train at the Bois Rouge football pitch as soon as it opens.
These joint efforts not only enable the team to excel in their sport but also help the players thrive by keeping them away from the social challenges that can affect at‑risk neighbourhoods.
A wonderful initiative that deserves encouragement and support.
We are with you, Pointe aux Piments Fire City.
