A passionate padel enthusiast, Mathieu Vallet recently joined the Novaterra family as Operations Manager of the Caña club at Mon Rocher. We spoke with him to learn more about his journey and ambitions.
Can you tell us about your professional background?
I graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from Curtin University in Perth, Australia. After returning to Mauritius, I pursued accounting studies while completing audit training with BDP. I then spent some time working in a property management company before joining Quantilab in 2017 as CFO, where I remained until the end of 2025. At the start of 2026, I joined the Terra Group.
You are now Operations Manager of Caña. What does this role mean to you?
I have always been a big sports enthusiast, and I quickly became passionate about padel. Over the past few years, it has become my favourite sport. I dedicate a lot of time to it, so managing Caña allows me to combine my work with something I truly enjoy.
What first attracted you to Mon Rocher?
The setting is remarkable, both as part of the Beau Plan city and as a living heritage site of the Terra Group. Around Caña, you can still see traces of its industrial past, including the old chimney and the restored building now used for events. It gives the club a very distinctive character.
What are your objectives for developing the club?
I have only recently taken up the role, but I can already see the many existing and potential synergies across the Group’s different sectors. Mon Rocher plays an important role as Beau Plan’s sports and social hub, and there is a lot to build on.
In the coming weeks, for example, we will launch the Caña Padel Academy, which will collaborate with nearby schools to introduce the sport to younger players. We will also offer high-quality coaching for adults of all ages and levels. Several events and competitions will be organised at the club this year, in addition to the Padel League tournaments already scheduled.
Later in 2026, further developments are planned, including the extension of the facilities with covered courts and even a gym.
What does a typical day at Beau Plan look like for you?
After dropping my children off at Greencoast and Themis, I usually arrive at Caña around 7:30 am. Since the club opens to the public from 6:30 am, I often start by walking around the courts to watch a few great rallies and make sure everything is running smoothly. Sometimes we even start the day with a match before 7 am to set the tone.
The rest of the day includes meetings, administrative work, and moving between the Novaterra offices at Beau Plan and the Caña club, before welcoming the afternoon peak-hour players. To unwind and stay active, I try to organise three matches a week after work.
Thank you, Mathieu. See you on the Caña courts soon.
