Living his day-to-day life in Beau Plan, Mathieu Fayolle, a financial controller at a company established for several years in the Beau Plan Business Park, shares what he loves about the city and why he recommends it as a business destination.
Hello Mathieu! Can you tell us about your job?
I’m a financial controller at GreenYellow Indian Ocean, a French company specializing in decentralized photovoltaic production and electric mobility for businesses and communities in Mauritius, Réunion, and Mayotte. My main role is to coordinate the work of local accounting teams to provide reliable financial data at the group level.
In your opinion, what is the biggest advantage of Beau Plan for your company?
I believe the location is a significant asset. It’s close to Grand Baie and the central cities of the island, which are talent hubs. The city offers convenient access from the highway, whether you’re traveling by car or bus. Moreover, the range of services available makes life easier for employees of any business based here: from banks and ATMs to insurance services, everyday conveniences, a supermarket, and restaurants—everything you need is right there.
What do you personally like most about the city?
I’d say its greenery! Driving into Beau Plan each morning via Rue des Lumières, with its tree-lined roads and landscaped spaces, creates a serene and pleasant feeling. Additionally, the blend of modern and old architecture, with contemporary buildings standing alongside structures from the sugar estate era, is visually appealing. It brings back fond memories for me!
What developments would you like to see to enhance your team’s well-being here?
Creating more networking opportunities among those working at the Business Park would be interesting. For example, hosting events like “Ted Talks” with speakers that encourage us to reflect on professional or personal topics could be a great addition.
Finally, what are your favorite spots in Beau Plan?
La Cantine, without a doubt. You always leave with a smile!
