Davina Abel, Communication & Marketing Coordinator at Mahogany Shopping Promenade
Just one month after the opening of Mahogany Shopping Promenade in August 2021, Davina joined the Beau Plan community to be a part of this exciting adventure. Today, she shares what she loves most about working in Beau Plan.
Hello Davina! Tell us about your job in Beau Plan?
I’m the Communication & Marketing Coordinator for Mahogany Shopping Promenade. In addition to ensuring the mall’s visibility on a national level, I oversee the organization of all events at the center and support the tenants in their daily operations. It’s a demanding yet rewarding environment because it allows me to meet amazing people. Before coming to Beau Plan, I worked in other parts of the island, and I have to say, the daily life here is completely different. The surroundings are peaceful, and sometimes I find myself lacking motivation to drive back into the traffic jams of Curepipe in the evenings!
What do you enjoy most about working in Beau Plan?
When I leave the traffic behind and arrive here, I really feel relaxed. The view of the lake, the sound of the birds in the surrounding nature—it really helps me have wonderful days! I feel disconnected, like I’m in a little cocoon. It’s funny because the highway is just a few meters away. Despite that, Beau Plan still has a countryside feel to it, and everything I need is close by: the supermarket, the pharmacy, the bank… Usually, before heading back to Curepipe, I make sure to do all my shopping here. It’s so convenient!
Do you also have leisure activities in Beau Plan?
Of course! At one point, I would go for walks with some colleagues in Beau Plan after work to get some exercise and avoid the traffic in the central part of the island. We walk along the mango orchard, hear the birds, smell the fruit trees… And when we walk around the lake, we’re always amazed by the sunset colors. It’s such a unique urban setting!
What’s the added benefit of working in Beau Plan, in your opinion?
In my eyes, it’s the networking events organized by Novaterra. We work here all day, but when you’re caught up in daily tasks, it’s hard to know everyone. These events create opportunities, foster pleasant exchanges, and make everyday life so much richer! The networking evenings allow us to meet other businesses in the area without having to leave Beau Plan. They’re always great moments!
