Over a coffee at La Cantine de Beau Plan, we met Romain. Between his busy days at Novaterra and his passion for padel, he shares his favorite experiences in Beau Plan and gives us a glimpse into his daily life.
Tell us: how did you discover Beau Plan?
I was invited by friends who had recently moved to Beau Plan to attend one of the Apéros. That was when I discovered the city’s development. I hadn’t realized how much Beau Plan had transformed, even though I regularly drove from the center to the north and often passed by! This experience allowed me to see Beau Plan in a completely new light.
You work at Novaterra, right in the heart of the city. What does your daily life look like?
The environment around our office blends heritage and green spaces. It’s a place where you genuinely feel good. On top of that, the company is extremely dynamic, with new projects constantly underway, which makes everyday work truly motivating. My days revolve around visits to the city and our developments, whether with new or existing clients. I also take part in the handover of residential units, which is always a very special moment for clients. The rest of my time is shared between meetings and project follow-ups. In short, I never get bored!
Indigo, the apartment project, was the first project you worked on. Tell us about that experience!
Located in the heart of the city, the Indigo project includes 120 one- to three-bedroom apartments. It had already caught my attention even before I joined Novaterra, to the point where I spoke about it to friends and family looking to invest. Working on this project has been an incredibly enriching experience. Today, we are in the delivery phase, which naturally comes with its share of challenges. We have to support clients eager to discover their apartment while coordinating the final stages with all the different stakeholders involved. It’s a role that requires precision, responsiveness, and a true team spirit.
Finally, can you share your favorite spots around the city with our readers?
There are several places I’m particularly fond of. The first is Caña Padel, a padel club with an atmosphere that is always friendly, both on and off the courts. I’m also looking forward to discovering the next phase of development planned for the end of the year, with the addition of six new courts. The Sugar Adventure Museum is another must-visit. Since its renovation, I’ve had the opportunity to visit it several times with relatives and friends, whether Mauritian or international.
It’s a place that reconnects me with my history while helping visitors better understand the importance of sugar cane and the evolution of our island.
