A symbol of the Creative Park, the Patrick Mavros atelier crafts refined jewellery right in the heart of Beau Plan. We set out to discover how this setting inspires them…

Working in Beau Plan: what inspires you on a daily basis?

We truly appreciate the dynamic and welcoming atmosphere that defines the Creative Park. For us, the Patrick Mavros Atelier has always been a place designed to welcome people. We enjoy presenting our jewellery and artistic creations to our clients, but even more so, we value the fact that they can observe the creative process behind each piece, thanks to the open architecture of our atelier.

Being based at the Creative Park means we are not simply a brand hidden behind closed doors; we are part of a community. Here, we follow the natural rhythm of the park and the city. For those who live here or simply pass through, it is easy to stop by Mahogany Shopping Promenade for errands, drop your child at the dance studio just across from the atelier, visit L’Aventure du Sucre, and then step naturally into our space. It is this seamless integration with the Beau Plan environment that makes the atelier so special to us.

The Patrick Mavros atelier sits at the heart of the Creative Park. Is this setting inspiring for your artisans?

Absolutely. It is in the atelier that the magic happens, with Kate and Forbes as the creative driving forces. Their passion naturally carries through to the rest of the team. We are fortunate to work with a dedicated group of creatives, some of whom have been with us for over 15 years and have mastered their craft to perfection. Our pieces are handmade with extraordinary care; every texture and every curve is shaped by inspiration. Nothing is left to chance.

Beyond our own walls, we are committed to passing this creativity on to the next generation through our internship programme with the African Leadership College of Higher Education. We mentor and guide a select group of students, introducing them to the operational structure of our global creative business.

Have some Patrick Mavros pieces been inspired by the region?

Most of our Mauritian collections and our “One Of A Kind” pieces draw inspiration from the island around us. Yet a deeper source of inspiration lies within the very walls of our atelier. It is housed in a 160-year-old building that once served as a foundry. At the time, the space was dedicated to the heavy industrial metals used in sugar plantations. Today, we work within this same historic setting with another kind of metal: silver and gold. Crafting refined jewellery here is a meaningful tribute to its past, just as the architecture itself, with its high ceilings, continues to inspire us. We are constantly guided by this heritage as we create pieces meant to last, and we enjoy sharing a part of that story with everyone who walks through our doors.
