Since January 2025, Beau Plan has continued its educational growth with a new addition to its learning ecosystem. Themis International School has set up in the Beauhinias area, bringing a fresh perspective to secondary education. Let’s take a closer look at this school that’s anything but ordinary.
Aiming for excellence
Themis International School’s vision is to empower its students while setting a new standard for education in Mauritius. The goal is nothing less than becoming a benchmark for education — not only locally, but internationally as well. The school welcomed its very first students in January 2025 and is already energetically working toward that mission.
Aytac Ali, the school’s director, explains:
“At the heart of my vision for the school is a commitment to excellence, equality, and raising aspirations. I want to give our children the means to make a positive impact on the world.”
He adds, “At Themis, we are dedicated to providing all students with a wide range of positive experiences and a truly outstanding education. We want each of them to achieve their ambitions and make their dreams a reality.”
The message is clear.
A school in a restored colonial house
True to Beau Plan’s philosophy of preserving heritage, Themis International School has not moved into a new building, but rather into a beautifully restored colonial home. Once the former administrator’s residence in the Beauhinias area, the house had previously hosted various businesses. Today, it has been fully renovated to accommodate classrooms of all sizes. The large garden, with views of the mountains, even features a basketball court. It’s a school like no other — much to the delight of its students.
The director shares his impression:
“The bright and airy classrooms, combined with the surroundings, have created a positive and stimulating learning atmosphere. It encourages creativity, collaboration, and a genuine love of learning. This temporary location provides the ideal foundation for Themis to continue growing, improving our programs, and strengthening our commitment to excellence in education.”
This setup is only temporary. The new campus, located next to Greencoast International School, is already under construction. The new facilities are expected to be completed in time for the 2027 school year.
