Mauritius’ major jazz festival, Mama Jaz, is back this year for its tenth edition. With an increasingly eclectic lineup designed to introduce jazz and local talent to a wider audience, it once again sets up at Beau Plan for four friendly gatherings throughout April. Every Sunday in April (on the 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th), Mama Jaz invites jazz lovers and the general public to Creative Park in Beau Plan for its MA MA PIK NIK sessions. During these relaxed and cheerful afternoons, come and enjoy performances by renowned artists from the local music scene while sharing a picnic with your loved ones. Food and non-alcoholic beverage stalls will be available on-site, and visitors are also welcome to bring their own lunch or snacks. Entry is free for all! These open-air concerts, best enjoyed seated on the grass under the shade of one of the Creative Park’s large trees, promise brilliant and creative performances. Among this year’s invited artists are the Belingo Faro Trio, Katzorder, and the Samuel Laval Quintet.
Beau Plan, fervent soutien des industries créatives
Beau Plan, a strong supporter of the creative industries. Behind the scenes, the Beau Plan team has been working for several weeks to prepare for the festival. Benjamin Gilot, Cultural Project Manager at Novaterra, shares: “Welcoming Mama Jaz at Creative Park year after year is a real pleasure. The picnics bring a lovely atmosphere to this month-long event, and we’re happy to see that they help spark a love for jazz and music among a wide audience.” While Beau Plan is proud to have supported Mama Jaz for several years now, the city aims to support the entire creative sector. Among the recently supported cultural initiatives are the Samudra Art Prize in November 2024 and the Moris Ikonik book exhibition in March 2025—events that highlight local talent and celebrate the country’s creativity. See you at Creative Park in Beau Plan every Sunday this April to enjoy the open-air concerts of Mama Jaz!
