It’s been three years now that it has been a part of our daily lives in the heart of Beau Plan. But do you know its secrets and features? Here’s an overview.

With its views over the Beau Plan lake and its changing reflections, its welcoming armchairs scattered throughout its aisles, and its wide selection of shops, services, stores, and restaurants, the Mahogany has become a must-visit spot in the region in just a few months. It complements both family weekends and the busy daily lives of workers and residents of Beau Plan, who come to shop after a day of work.

Here are four anecdotes about the Mahogany that you will enjoy discovering or rediscovering!

It gets its name from the “mahogany” that decorates one of its main entrances! The entrance of the shopping center that leads to the MCB and the 20/Vin shop offers the pleasure of admiring the eponymous “mahogany” of the place: a superb century-old mahogany tree that gave the development team a hard time. Indeed, they had to adjust the architectural plans of the Mahogany Shopping Promenade several times to ensure the preservation of this beautiful tree to everyone’s delight. A successful bet!

It is one of the best spots in the region to admire the sunset … At least, it’s one of our favorites! You just need to sit on the steps at the Ki Pou Manze food court, or in one of the restaurants facing the lake to enjoy the spectacle. The sky is adorned with reddish hues that are reflected on the lake… It’s magnificent.

A crocodile once lived there… Long before the idea of building a shopping promenade came to light – even centuries earlier! – a crocodile from Madagascar once lived within the waters. Caught by sailors in the harbor of Port-Louis before being tamed by a landowner in the region, it escaped from its enclosure to take refuge in the Beau Plan lake. It took several years to find it!

At the cutting edge of modernity Who said that sustainable modes of transport were not suitable for Mauritian life? Certainly not us! The Mahogany Shopping Promenade is equipped with a charging station for electric vehicles, as well as parking for electric scooters and bicycles.
